Description
The Sure, Safe Way to Eye the SKY (Photo Credit - Fred Espenak) Founded by Mark S. Margolis over 40 years ago, Rainbow Symphony is not only the largest manufacturer of eclipse glasses in the world, but is also a developer of plastic designer eclipse glasses, solar viewers and solar filters for telescopes and binoculars. Featured on CNN and in Astronomy Magazine, Rainbow Symphony works with leaders in the eclipse community including former AAS president Rick Feinberg, top eclipse chaser Fred Espenak and various filmmakers. They also sponsor the Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project, the largest solar outreach project in the world. Made in the USA Whether you’re an amateur astronomer with an eye towards the stars or a seasoned eclipse chaser with a love for all things science, a solar eclipse is a truly unforgettable event –– and one that everyone should experience at least once! Our solar viewers are made in the USA and trusted by NASA and the American Astronomical Society. Crafted from innovative, scratch-resistance black / silver polymer material, you can depend on the lenses to filter out all harmful infrared and ultraviolet light. They also shield your eyes from 99.999% of high-intensity visible light. Whether you’re hosting a viewing party with your friends and family, your employees, or any of your fellow sky gazers who decide to show up, our custom solar eclipse glasses will allow you to view the incredible spectacle safely and in style. Safety Tips: Children should always be supervised Everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy a solar eclipse but eclipse glasses are not a toy. Make sure children are supervised by an adult. Purchase Your Glasses From A Reputable Dealer Make sure your glasses are from a reputable source. Eclipse glasses are NOT regular sunglasses; regular sunglasses, no matter how dark, are not safe for viewing the Sun. Safe solar viewers are thousands of times darker and must comply with the ISO 12312-2 international standard. Look for the ISO mark and ISO 12312-2:2015 This certifies that your glasses are safe for eclipse viewing. Make Sure Your Glasses Are In Good Repair (Photo Credit Geoff Simms) Make sure your glasses are in good condition. Always make sure to inspect your lenses carefully for any cracks, scratches, or other types of damage that would allow a light leak, whether you are reusing eclipse glasses from previous eclipses or a brand-new pair of eclipse glasses. Do NOT look at the Sun through a camera lens, telescope, binoculars, or any other optical device while wearing eclipse glasses or using a handheld solar viewer —the concentrated solar rays will burn through the filter and cause serious eye injury. Those devices require different types of solar filters. When viewing the partial phases of the eclipse through cameras, binoculars, or telescopes equipped with proper solar filters, you do not need to wear eclipse glasses. (The solar filters do the same job as the eclipse glasses to protect your eyes.) View the Sun through eclipse glasses or a handheld solar viewer during the partial eclipse phases before and after totality. You can view the eclipse directly without proper eye protection only when the Moon completely obscures the Sun’s bright face – during the brief and spectacular period known as totality. (You’ll know it’s safe when you can no longer see any part of the Sun through eclipse glasses or a solar viewer.) As soon as you see even a little bit of the bright Sun reappear after totality, immediately put your eclipse glasses back on or use a handheld solar viewer to look at the Sun.
